During our visit to Living Spaces we spent more than 13K on an adjustable bed, an upholstered frame, a set of mattresses and a motion sofa and love-seat. Of the items purchased the Oliver sofas frame broke, the leather scratches very easily and when they were brought in to review the damage, the item was sent to the store where a lousy reassembly job was done.
When the item was returned to our home the motors staggered none of the scratches were repaired, and loose fabric was hanging out of the reclining part. We paid $1995 for the sofa and $1995 for the love-seat. The pair were barely a year old when this damage occurred and they were never repaired to a satisfactory level. We also purchased Sealy Silver Hybrid Mattresses for our adjustable bed.
Within the year the entire side of the bed gave out, and made it impossible to sleep in the bed. When reported to living spaces the customer service rep told us that the mattress would be replaced, however the inspection service had to come to see the mattress. They told me they would be out on the 5th of May. They never showed up.
Instead the called on the 6th, to schedule an appointment. When the tech showed up he put something that amounted to a role of toilet paper on the bed to measure compressions and then noted the collapse of the side. When we contacted living spaces again after not hearing anything for a month we were told that the mattress did not meet their replacement criteria. I visited the store manager and he told us that his hands were tied and he had no authority to override their decision.
Nobody can sleep in this bed. It dumps them out on the floor. So, after spending about $2800 on this mattress set, less than 2 years ago now, we are buying a replacement. Living Spaces hides behind their extra 10% cost insurance that they try to sell you upon your purchase to avoid performing on the manufacturers warranties.
When we contacted Sealy directly we were told that Living Spaces handles their own manufacturers warranty issues, which is why they receive the lower pricing they get to allow them maximum profit. It appears that was the situation with the Flex Steele Sofa and Love seat as well. The quality of the furniture at Living spaces for us at least has been pretty dismal. They do not honor warranties and overcharge customers for their protection plan.
We will no longer be purchasing anything from this company and if you were smart you would avoid buying there at all cost. The managers of the stores have no authority to do anything to address any grievances you may have. Contacting the corporate offices can only be done by email and it is unlikely that they will respond in any kind of timely manner. If you already ordered something and are having trouble with delivery cancel it.
Call your credit card company and have them reverse the charge before dealing with living spaces. I have heard they also have this thing about trying to keep your money for restocking fees. This company has several bad reviews on various sites.
Unfortunately we did not look at them before we purchased. Maybe you will be luckier.
